About the Social Connection
Building Purpose | Strengthening Independence | Creating Community.
The Social Connection is a structured, community-based program serving Regional Center–served neurodivergent adults ages 18+ through two welcoming hubs in Lafayette and Pleasant Hill, California.
We were founded on a simple belief: adulthood should be filled with purpose, growth, and meaningful connection.
Our program is designed to support individuals as they build real-world skills, strengthen independence, and develop the confidence needed to thrive in employment, relationships, and community life.
Our Approach
At the Social Connection, growth is not passive — it is intentional.
At The Social Connection, we believe growth requires structure, accountability, and opportunity. Our model is built on clear expectations, individualized goal-setting, and consistent skill practice. Members are supported in identifying strengths, setting meaningful objectives, and working toward measurable progress. We combine professional guidance with peer connection to create an environment where independence is practiced daily — not just discussed.
Why We Exist
We exist to redefine what support in adulthood can look like.
Too often, young adults transition out of school systems without clear next steps. While social opportunities and recreational programs exist, structured, skill-building environments intentionally designed for neurodivergent adults navigating adulthood remain limited.
The Social Connection was created to bridge that gap.
We provide an environment where members strengthen practical life skills, build meaningful career experience, develop leadership confidence, and form authentic peer relationships — all while practicing independence in real-world settings. Growth is not theoretical; it is lived, applied, and reinforced daily.
Our goal is not just participation — it is measurable progress.
Founded with Purpose
At The Social Connection, leadership is rooted in vision, experience, and an unwavering commitment to raising the standard.
The Social Connection was founded by Sara Trail, a millennial Harvard graduate and leader in community-based services with extensive experience in neurodivergent support. Having worked across residential, vocational, and independent living settings, Sara created The Social Connection to raise the standard of adult programming — combining structure, opportunity, and community within one intentional, growth-centered model.
Core Values
The standards that define our community and guide every decision we make.
At The Social Connection, our work is grounded in structure, accountability, inclusion, and opportunity. We believe every adult deserves access to environments that promote dignity, measurable growth, and meaningful participation in community life. Our values guide how we design programming, support individual goals, and maintain high standards of professionalism — ensuring that every member is both supported and challenged to grow.
